Artist Recovery Program

FRACC is committed to strengthening the city’s creative economy through hands-on support for local artists. By leveraging City-awarded ARPA resources, FRACC launched the Artist Recovery Program, a multifaceted initiative designed to help artists recover from the pandemic’s economic impact and contribute to Fall River’s cultural vitality.

This program aligns with the City of Fall River’s vision for Arts, Culture, and Tourism as drivers of economic recovery and growth. Guided by industry professionals, FRACC's initiatives provide financial assistance, skill-building opportunities, and direct support for artists. This program is financed, in part by Bristol County, through the American Rescue Plan Act.

The Artist Recovery Program Includes:

✅ Capacity-Building Program (Completed): FRACC partnered with Assets for Artists (A4A) to provide ten Fall River artists with business training and $3,000 working capital grants. Read more about the program and the cohort.

📚 Business & Finance Workshop Series (Ongoing): Offering free workshops designed by and for artists and creative entrepreneurs. Check out upcoming opportunities on our workshop page and event listings.

🎨 Artist Showcase Grant (Current Feature): This initiative provides six artists with resources to showcase their work at major city-backed events. We’re excited to highlight our Artist Showcase Grant recipients, who will bring their creative vision to public audiences across Fall River. Meet the Awarded Creatives here!

🌟 Creative Ambassadors Program (Ongoing): Fall River creatives will receive grants up to $5,000 and serve as Creative Ambassadors. In this role they will champion the power of artistic expression and engaging the public through innovative, participatory projects. Over the course of a one-year term, these ambassadors will create public-facing works that invite residents and visitors to experience the arts in everyday life.

More than just artists, Creative Ambassadors are cultural advocates, trusted community members, and connectors who will design short-term projects that reflect Fall River’s diverse stories and civic spirit. They will also help shape future arts programming, represent the arts in public meetings, and lead FRACC events throughout the year.

Program features include:

  • $5,000 grants to 5 local artists

  • One-year, place-based public projects

  • Leadership roles in FRACC meetings and city-wide arts initiatives

  • Opportunities to design community workshops and events

The FRACC invites artists across all disciplines—visual, performing, literary, and beyond—to apply. The program especially welcomes those committed to equity, collaboration, and cultural impact.

This program is funded in part by the American Rescue Plan Act through Bristol County and supports the City of Fall River’s long-term vision of arts and culture as key drivers of local economic growth and recovery.
