ArtWeek SouthCoast 2026 will bring a dynamic celebration of creativity and culture to Southeastern Massachusetts. Hosted by the SouthCoast Community Foundation from Friday, May 8 through Sunday, May 17, the initiative will activate the region with events showcasing local artists, performers, cultural groups, and community organizations. Among the highlights is a focus on Fall River, where public art and community collaboration are lighting up the city in new and exciting ways.

Bringing Art and Community Together

Fall River Arts & Culture Coalition (FRACC) plays a key role in fostering connections during ArtWeek SouthCoast. On Monday, May 11, FRACC will host an Open Networking meeting at the Narrows Center for the Arts at 6 PM. This event invites arts supporters and community members to come together, exchange ideas, and hear updates on ongoing projects.

The networking meeting is a great opportunity to meet local artists, cultural leaders, and creative businesses. It also offers insight into how the arts are shaping Fall River’s future. Whether you are an artist, a supporter, or simply curious about the local scene, this gathering promises meaningful conversations and new connections.

Illuminating Fall River’s Public Art

One of the most exciting initiatives during ArtWeek SouthCoast is the Isosceles Alliance’s project to illuminate Fall River’s murals and architectural landmarks. The first illumination on May 8th will feature the mural “We Here” (2022) by internationally recognized artist Add Fuel. Located at 207 Pocasset Street, this mural celebrates Fall River’s Portuguese heritage.

With new architectural lighting, the mural will shine well into the evening hours. This enhancement not only beautifies the streetscape but also improves visibility and safety downtown. The lighting creates a welcoming atmosphere that encourages residents and visitors to explore the city after dark.

This lighting project is just the beginning of a larger vision to brighten Fall River’s hillsides, public art, and historic buildings. By combining art and light, the initiative aims to bring energy and pride to the community. It also highlights the power of creative placemaking to transform public spaces and foster civic engagement.
